Research Overview
Demetria Cain works as a project manager for Dr. Seth Kalichman at CHIP. She helps develop and implement HIV risk reduction interventions for individuals in South Africa and Atlanta. She currently manages a multi-site counseling intervention with STI clinic patients in Cape Town, Queenstown, and Thembisa, South Africa. Demetria also assists in similar interventions studies that integrate alcohol use with sexual risk reduction, address gender dynamics and their influence on sexual risk reduction, and combine HIV medication adherence with sexual risk reduction for people living with HIV. Additionally, Demetria’s research interests include how South African languages and influences from the English language affect how individuals communicate about sex and sexual risk reduction.
