Research Overview
Dr. Copenhaver is an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion in the Dept of Allied Health Sciences and the Dept of Psychology and is a PI at the Center for Health, Intervention, and Prevention (CHIP). His current research involves developing and evaluating HIV risk reduction interventions that target high risk drug users. He is conducting a NIDA-funded randomized clinical trial of the community-friendly health recovery program (CHRP), an HIV risk reduction intervention targeting injection drug users in drug treatment. He is also conducting NIDA-funded exploratory research testing an adapted intervention targeting newly-released HIV-infected prisoners in CT. Dr. Copenhaver has been a PI at CHIP since 2002.
