Research Overview
Dr. Nancy H. Covell is a clinical psychologist and an assistant professor of Psychiatry, Division of Health Services Research, at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Her primary research focus is mental health services research for individuals with serious mental illness, with a particular focus on randomized controlled trials of antipsychotic medication effectiveness and studies of the side effects of antipsychotic medications. She was also part of the team who evaluated the mental health services provided in New York following the terrorist attacks and is currently part of a team in New York charged with designing and evaluating state-wide efforts to improve pscyhotropic prescribing. Another current focus is helping large systems (e.g., state mental health providers) develop the resources and infrastructure needed to adopt evidence-based practices in a way that maintains high fidelity and promotes sustainability.
