Research Overview
Dr. Barta is currently studying alcohol-involved sexual risk-taking behavior among individuals living with HIV, using an electronic daily diary methodology to identify contextual determinants of unprotected sex in this population. More broadly, Dr. Barta is interested in studying cross-situational and intertemporal instability in individuals’ attitudes, intentions, and self-efficacy to practice various health behaviors. Of particular interest is the association between daily stressors and instability in these psychosocial predictors of health behavior. Dr. Barta is also collaborating on a project aimed at developing an educational, entertaining video game aimed at promoting safer sexual practices among 18-25 year old disadvantaged youths.
