Research Overview
Josephine D. Korchmaros is a Research Specialist, Principal in the University of Arizona’s Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Dr. Korchmaros is a Social Psychologist with expertise in research methods and statistics. Her research interests include the process and effects of social categorization, risky decision-making, and behavioral change. Dr. Korchmaros is currently working on designing, implementing, and evaluating projects aimed (1) at reducing substance use and risky sexual behaviors in youth and women, (2) at increasing health literacy and preventative medical care in minority ethnic groups, and (3) improving systems of care for youth with mental health and substance use problems. Dr. Korchmaros is dedicated to working on research that advances science and is designed to have a direct positive impact on health and quality of life.
