External Funding Opportunities

To help CHIP affiliates identify new external funding opportunities, a CHIP administrative team member regularly performs searches of health behavior change grant announcements from major government agencies and foundations. These opportunities are circulated to CHIP’s membership through one of CHIP’s listservs and posted below.

If you would like to request a customized search of external health behavior change grant opportunities, please contact Beth Krane at beth.krane@uconn.edu.

To view other available CHIP services which facilitate the successful pursuit of external grant funding, please visit Seed Grants and Awards, Proposal Reviews and/or Statistical Support.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Call for Proposals – Public Health Services and Systems Research: Building Evidence for Decision-Making
Application Deadline: March 27, 2012 3:00 PM EDT
External forces such as the economic downturn, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and new accreditation standards are changing public health services, structures, and resource allocations in ways that may affect the public’s health. This solicitation seeks to expand the evidence for effective decision-making in public health practice and policy through research that utilizes natural experiments to understand the effects of these external forces within communities and the resulting impact on population health. Research supported through this solicitation will respond to questions defined in the National Agenda for Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR).

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Call for Proposals – Public Health Law Research: Making the Case for Laws That Improve Health
Application Deadline: April 4, 2012 3:00 PM EDT
Public Health Law Research (PHLR) is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The program seeks to build the evidence for and strengthen the use of regulatory, legal and policy solutions to improve public health. PHLR is equally interested in identifying and ameliorating laws and legal practices that unintentionally harm health. PHLR’s purpose is to answer important questions, such as: How does law influence health and health behavior? Which laws have the greatest impact? Can current laws be made more effective through better enforcement, or do they require amendment? This kind of rigorous, credible research can inform and guide the crafting and implementation of laws that promote public health.
